What to Prepare Before Building an Online Store
Product photos, shipping rules and returns policy decide how long an Evolve build takes. Get them ready first.
The build time for an online store depends far less on the storefront than on the decisions behind it. Most delays we see come from content and policy, not code.
Product photography is the big one. Every product needs at least one clean image, ideally three, shot consistently. Mixed lighting and backgrounds make even a well-built store look improvised, and no amount of design rescues it.
Shipping rules need deciding before checkout is configured. Flat rate, free over a threshold, weight-based, local pickup, which countries you ship to. Each of these changes what the checkout has to calculate, and changing your mind afterwards means reconfiguring it.
Tax depends on where you sell and where your customers are. It can be calculated automatically at checkout once your tax registrations are in place, but it needs to be switched on deliberately rather than assumed.
Then the unglamorous documents: returns policy, delivery times, terms, privacy. Customers read these more than you would think, and payment providers require them.
Have those five things ready and an Evolve store goes from kickoff to launch quickly. Arrive without them and the build waits on you, not the other way round.
